Embodied mindfulness to help you get unstuck

Do you want to heal your relationship with your body?

You have physical symptoms the doctors can’t explain. It could be chronic headaches, stomach aches, a racing heart beat, or something else. They’ve suggested you try therapy but talking about it never seemed to cause any change. You’re tired of not being able to be fully present in your life because of these symptoms. You want to be able to enjoy your work and relationships without being plagued by pain or discomfort. You want to understand what’s going on and most importantly you want to feel better.

Yoga therapy can help you understand and cope with your symptoms

Yoga Therapy is a form of mind/body therapy that integrates body movement, yoga poses, therapeutic touch, and dialogue to help you better understand yourself and create meaningful change. This approach can help you learn to listen to your body to better understand why you feel certain ways. It can also help you learn how to relax and improve coping to increase feelings of well-being and decrease pain.

What to expect in a session

  • Intention Setting

Each session begins with a meditation to help you become present and identify your intention for the session.

  • Movement

After intention setting, we move into the body movement part of session. This may look like traditional yoga poses or it may not. We work with what is occurring in the moment. For example, maybe you are talking about wanting to learn how to take up more space. This could lead me to invite you to explore the difference between when you make yourself small versus when you take up as much space as possible on the mat.

  • Integration

Sessions end with another meditation to reflect on the experience you had, identify how it connects with your life, and identify an action step you would like to take.

Yoga Therapy can help you:

  • Increase your understanding of your symptoms including what makes them worse or better

  • Increase your ability to tolerate discomfort

  • Improve your ability to manage stress

  • Reconnect with your body, so you can have a healthy and loving relationship with yourself

It’s possible to feel well again.
